01 · Industry Overview

Where Material Performance Matters

Titanium, nickel, and selected zirconium products support demanding flight, propulsion, fastening, joining, and precision component programs. Material form, alloy grade, surface condition, and traceability must be matched to the final component and service environment.

02 · Material Families

Titanium, Nickel & Zirconium

These materials are not interchangeable. The correct choice depends on the component, media, temperature, loading, joining route, and governing specification.

Titanium material
Primary Choice

Titanium

High specific strength and corrosion resistance make titanium the broadest fit for aerospace foil, rod, and wire programs.

Nickel Alloys material
High Temperature

Nickel Alloys

Nickel and nickel-based alloys are selected where heat, oxidation, fatigue, and hot-gas corrosion exceed titanium capability.

Zirconium material
Specialist Use

Zirconium

Zirconium is a specialist aerospace material used selectively in research, joining, getter, and nuclear-related systems.

Foil, Rod & Wire Applications

A practical sourcing guide for engineers and buyers. Final suitability should be confirmed against the specification, operating environment, and fabrication route.

Material Foil & Strip Rod & Bar Wire
Titanium Honeycomb and sandwich structures, precision shims, thermal barriers, seals, and lightweight formed components. Machined fasteners, shafts, fittings, structural connectors, landing-system parts, and forged component feedstock. Welding filler, lock wire, springs, fine fasteners, mesh, and wire-based additive manufacturing feedstock.
Nickel Alloys Engine seals, honeycomb sealing structures, high-temperature gaskets, thermal shields, and brazing foil. Engine and turbine hardware, valve parts, high-temperature fasteners, shafts, and machined hot-section components. Nickel-alloy welding wire, high-temperature springs, sensor wire, resistance elements, and NiTi actuator wire.
Zirconium Special brazing systems, getter components, laboratory thermal assemblies, and selected high-vacuum applications. Special corrosion-resistant or nuclear-related machined parts where zirconium properties are specifically required. Research-grade tethers, specialty fasteners, getter elements, and titanium-zirconium composite wire programs.

Selection Priorities

  • Confirm the required AMS, ASTM, customer, or drawing specification before material selection.
